You rarely think twice about pulling up to a petrol station, filling up your car, and driving away. It’s a task you’ve done thousands of times before, and any time you see that infamous low fuel light, you just swing into your nearest petrol station and you’re ready to go again in under a few minutes.

That’s not the same with electric vehicles, of course. Even the fastest chargers can take up to an hour to fully charge your vehicle, so it’s definitely something of a ‘plan-ahead’ scenario. The Chevrolet Bolt EV is an electric car that isn’t trying to compete with the likes of Tesla, but is instead focused on quick city trips on a daily basis, with the idea that at the end of the day you just come home and top up your car with a charge, just like you’d plug in your phone to recharge.

It’s a concept that is slow to kick off, simply because at-home charging is a luxury that very few buildings in Dubai have yet to offer. But for the lucky few who have close access to a charging point, it’s a great alternative to our fuel-guzzling brothers and sisters.
